Uniform

Everyone

    • Long hair must be tied back for health and safety reasons. Hair bands must be narrow and plain. Scarves or bandanas must not be worn.
    • Hair must not be cut shorter than Grade 2
    • Hair must have no patterns or shapes cut, dyed or braided into it, and must not be dyed with bright unnatural colours.

    If in doubt, check with House Leaders or Deputy Headteacher before having a cut/treatment.

    If, for cultural reasons, hair needs to be shorter than Grade 2, this should be discussed in advance with the House Leader or Deputy Headteacher, but in any event shaved heads, except for medical reasons, are not permitted

    Boys – please note – facial hair is NOT permitted.

    • One flat, smooth ring is allowed
    • Only a single, plain stud in each ear lobe is allowed.
    • Nose and teeth studs/jewels are not allowed
    • Facial or body piercings or decorations are not allowed.
    • These may be worn when the day is continuously sunny, providing they are standard type glasses.
    • They must be removed when entering any building, unless medically required and previously approved by the School Nurse.
    • In winter a woollen hat may be worn.  No hats or scarves should be worn inside buildings.

    • Discreet makeup is permitted.
    • Nail varnish is not allowed.
    • Nail extensions of any description are not allowed for Health and Safety reasons.
    • Pupils need a school bag suitable for carrying exercise and text books.  The bag should be large enough that books can be kept flat and strong enough to protect the books in it.
    • Permitted Footballs/Basketballs etc. must be carried in a bag or carrier bag. Failure to do this will result in confiscation.
    • Food may only be eaten in authorised areas.
    • Plain water only, may be drunk in lessons. Also, during hot weather, you should fill your water bottles before school starts and only refill them at break and lunchtime.
    • Chewing gum is not allowed in school.
    • Pupils are expected to dispose of any litter in the bins provided.
    • In Years 7 to 11, mobile phones, personal music players and other unsuitable mobile devices are not allowed in school. Such items will be confiscated.
    • Aerosols are not allowed in school and if confiscated will only be returned to a parent or guardian.
    • Pupils are asked not to being expensive items or large sums of money to school. If circumstances mean that this is unavoidable, items should be left with the School office where they can be locked in the safe and collected at the end of the day.

 

Note:
For reasons of health and safety, and to enable proper and full communication during learning, clothing that covers the face and head entirely, or prevents easy identification is not allowed.

Any hairstyle or dress which may cause others fear or distress, may cause excessive comment, or which may impact on the health and safety of the pupil, or others, is not allowed.

Boys

General Uniform

  • School blazer with embroidered school badge** Collar and sleeves must be worn turned down.
  • School tie (in house colour)** Only clip-on ties are allowed.
  • White shirt (with plain, white underwear underneath) Shirts must be tucked in.
  • Mid-grey tailored trousers   Must not be charcoal or black, and should be worn at waist/hip height.
  • Black or grey socks
  • Plain black shoes (with no logo) Sports training shoes are not allowed except for PE. Canvas shoes are not allowed for Health & Safety reasons.
  • Coats – There is no alternative to the wearing of the school blazer. The only coats allowed are plain top coats which must be worn over (and not instead of) blazers. Unsuitable items, e.g. hoodies, tracksuit tops etc. will be confiscated
  • Belts if required, must be plain black. Only those with small, plain buckles are allowed for health and safety reasons.

Optional Items
If required, a grey jumper, v-necked, long sleeved (school logo)** may be worn under the blazer for extra warmth but not as an alternative to the blazer.

  • White polo shirt (school logo)**

  • Training shoes (NB – soles must be non-marking)
  • Reversible rugby shirt – Royal blue/White band on the inside, (school logo)**
  • Royal blue football socks
  • Football boots (moulded studs)
  • Shin pads

Optional Items

  • Tracksuit bottoms, MUST be plain black or navy
  • Grey sweatshirt (school logo)**
  • Astro turf shoes
  • Mouth guard

Pumps are NOT allowed for P.E

Girls

General Uniform

  • School blazer with embroidered school badge** Collar and sleeves must be worn turned down.
  • School tie (in house colour)** Only clip-on ties are allowed.
  • White shirt (with plain, white underwear underneath) Shirts must be tucked in.
  • Mid-grey skirt – Skirts should be tailored, A-line and may have pleats (Must not be of a stretchy or lycra material or have splits). The length is to be no more than 5 cm above knee level – skirts deemed by the Academy to be excessively short or long are not acceptable, on the grounds of modesty or Health and Safety.
  • Mid-grey tailored trousers – Must not be charcoal or black.  Straight cut tailored trousers.  No fashion trousers.
  • Plain black full shoes (with no logo) Footwear should be plain black, low-heeled (no higher than 4cm) or flat.  Boots may not be worn in school except in extreme weather conditions when they must be replaced by shoes on arrival at school.  Sports training shoes are not allowed except for PE.
  • Tights/Socks – plain black tights (40 denier or higher) or white ankle socks.
  • Belts – if required, must be plain black. Only those with small, plain buckles are allowed for health and safety reasons.
  • Coats – There is no alternative to the wearing of the school blazer. The only coats allowed are plain top coats which must be worn over (and not instead of) blazers. Unsuitable items, e.g. hoodies, tracksuit tops etc. will be confiscated
